MENDY WINKLER ASID

Partner

Mendy Winkler discovered her passion for hospitality while studying Interior Design in Dallas during the creation and boom of the hospitality design industry. What she could not have known is that she would eventually manage and design some of the most important hotels and resort projects in the US and abroad.

Winkler and Perkins created HotelStudio in 2017 as a pure hospitality design firm to create specific kinds of esthetic experiences that connect guests to destinations through the feel and appearance of the hospitality experience.  Both Winkler and Perkins have achieved a great deal over decades of practice and collaboration within three firms and believe that their approach will benefit owners, asset managers and operators in ways that build loyalty and better serve the communities of which these places play a very important role in our design vision for “storied stays”.

Mendy’s understanding of all professional roles in the design and documentation process is best-in-class and her reputation precedes her as a project manager of the highest integrity and capability.  She believes that integrated design, well-executed interior architectural and FF&E details, and management of the owner’s budget and schedule are the critical components of a successful project in terms of project delivery.

Prior to completion of her design degree for the University of North Texas, she started her hospitality design career with Wilson and Associates’ Dallas office and joined teams designing luxurious resort properties such as the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas and The One and Only Royal Mirage in Dubai.

In 1999, Mendy joined ForrestPerkins and quickly became an office and firm leader elevated to Vice President of Interior Design, responsible for managing designers across the Dallas, Washington, and San Francisco offices.  Mendy Winkler and Stephen Perkins collaborated on many projects at ForrestPerkins, notably the rebirth of the Omni LaCosta Resort and Spa above San Diego, The Willard in Washington, DC, and the envisioning of the St. Regis Hotel and Branded Residences in Amman, Jordan.  While at ForrestPerkins, Mendy lead the design and management for many notable projects from the historical renovation and/or preservation of The Fairmont Hotels in Bermuda, Lake Louise, and Vancouver, and The St. Anthony Luxury Collection in San Antonio to large resort/new construction projects like The JW Marriott Hill Country Resort.

HotelStudio has recently opened The Harpeth, a Curio Collection by Hilton, in Franklin, and the renovation of the Richmond Marriott will reopen in the Fall of 2020.  Winkler and Perkins have also created a subsidiary company, HomeStudio, to bring “storied living” to the luxury residential market.
